The Poet .°˖✧
Blake Harrsch (she/her) is a poet corporeally in New Jersey with a heart determined to capture stories beyond geographic and temporal bounds.

She holds an M.A. in English Literature from Seton Hall University, where she also earned a B.A. in English Honors and Philosophy with a minor in Creative Writing. She is delighted to begin her next chapter at the University of New Hampshire this fall, pursuing an M.F.A. in Creative Writing with a concentration in poetry.
Her poetry has been published in The Word’s Faire, Sad Girl Diaries, Platform Review, Pinky Magazine, Echo Review, and New Jersey Bards Poetry Review, among others. She also serves as co-editor of the Platform Review.
When Blake isn’t writing at the duck pond, she’s likely gallivanting through thrift store aisles or granting paper extensions from a tattoo parlor chair.

“I imagine my blood trail sputtering with the freedom of a dancer’s skirt,
its maroon billowing in winds
that gust in resistance.”– From “On Waking,” by Blake Harrsch
Her Work
Blake Harrsch’s debut poetry collection, Still, draws its title from an 1882 letter penned by Vincent van Gogh. After describing a bleak winter landscape, he wrote to his brother, “Still, a great deal of light shines on everything.” This is how Blake sees the world: still shining, even in its most dismal moments.
This work-in-progress is driven by radical optimism, intertwining struggle and wonder to capture the richness of our shared human experience. As she brings Still to life, her mission is to create work that nurtures communal healing, offering readers the solace and inspiration that Blake’s favorite writers gifted her.
